Evaluation : Feed Back from Max Chocolate Advert1

Our feedback from facebook was positive, however we could have made the storyline more interesting, because after watching it a few times it gets boring. But everyone does like the location and set up we had.

We had a good response as the majority of our listeners liked the advert. Therefore I think we have succeed in interesting our audience.

Yes-40 people No-10people

The feedback we had from this question was good too. However I think we would need to use a lot more cross media advertising in order to get better responses.

Do you think we should have had a female voice instead of a male one?

Yes-30people No –people

I thought this was a far comments, because in our video responses we did have comments like it was cheesy and maybe a female voice could have been used. If was to do this again I would have made a radio advert with a female and a male voice.

What do you think of the effects we used?

I was very pleased with this feedback, because I enjoyed making the radio and using the different effects and sounds.

This is very true what people have said. I think we could had a better script which could engaged our audience a bit more.

Overall the feedback was good, but if we were to create an advert, I would use different voices and use more effects.

Evaluation: Conclude all feedback

I think overall our feed back was positive. However there are thing we could have changed, like the shots we used in the sponsorship sequence. This would have made the sequence more interesting to watch instead of being boring at the beginning.
In the radio advert, the person who was speaking into the recorder, was speaking to close to the recorded, therefore the sound sometimes seems to be fuzzy. Next time we would make sure that there is a distance between the recorder and the person speaking into it but still be able to hear them.
In Advert 1 I think that sometimes the script used could be changed to make it formal, because you do not see many advert with 'slang' words in. therefore if we had thought about the script in more detail then it may of sounded better. on the other hand our target audience is 16-25 year old people, who are teenagers so they will be able to refer to this more as teenagers tend to use 'slang' words.
In Advert 2, I think all the effects and the transition we have used are really good and effective. I especially like the slow motion at the end however, I think the transition that that could be a bit better. Also at the beginning of the advert you cannot really tell what the advert is about, even though on every ones t-shirt there is a logo says 'Max chocolate' but it is not clear. Therefore some people may argue that you can not tell what is going on, until the end.

Evaluation : Feed Back from Max Chocolate Sponsorship

I think we got positive feedback from our audience about our sponsorship sequence. Our  biggest criticism was that the beginning of the sequence was repetitive, therefore it tends to get a bit boring after a while. The last sequence engaged the audience's attention better than the other sequences.

Evaluation:How did you use new media technologies tin the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages.

How did you use new media technologies tin the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages.

Research Stage

We used various types of media technologies to research, plan, construct and evaluate our adverts.

Research was initially carried out by watching videos from youtube. This enabled us to have a clear
understanding of the current adverts expressed within the media.. Watching other adverts helped use determine our target audience of 16-25year old.

I looked at different sites like fallon, a TV advertising company and radioville, a radio advert company, their websites were good to have a look at because helped us understand what companies are actually producing.

In our research stage, I conducted market research, where I filmed people’s responses, about  adverts which were most memorable to them and why.

When I filmed their responses, I uploaded them onto the computer however; my blog would not let me upload a video straight away. So I had to make a youtube account, in order for me to put the videos on my blog.

Using the URl, I then inputted that onto my blog

I also used my blog as another media technology to contract my research. This enabled me to upload videos from YouTube in order to watch them.

Planning

First we had to use a Zoom Mp3 recorder into for us to collect the sounds in which we could use in out radio adverts. We used this to record the vocals of the radio advert and also to record the voiceovers that would be included within one of the main products. We didn't encounter any problems with the Zoom Recorder because the process of recording the audio and then transferring the files onto the computer was very simple. To the left is a picture of the Zoom MP3 Recorder.

I had to use audioboo as an audio youtube. This is our blogs did not able us to upload MP3’s straight onto the blog. So I had to make an account on audiooboo, in order to upload the Mp3 files.

Using aduioboo was easy and simple to use. All we had to do was copy the URL onto our blogs.

I used a digital camera to take photos for each Location Reece. I also used Microsoft Word to write up all the scripts, call sheets, shot lists. This was good because I was able to create tables easy and easily imputed the information. After writing the script, I simple took a print screen on the script and then uploaded that image onto my blog.

For example these are a few screen shots of the scripts.

Production

When we were filming all the footage for our products. I used a Sony A1E camcorder, to record all the footage. We did have problems with this, because for our original idea of our sponsorship we recorded all of it in HD, therefore we was unable to use the footage because the sound did not record and the quality was bad when we did try and upload it onto Final Cut. Also it was hard to keep the camera stable and have static shots, because to get the camera level was hard because a small touch of the camera would change its focus.

We used three programmes to edit out footage.

Final Cut Pro

Live Type

Sound track pro
We used sound track pro to input sounds into Final cut. We used the gun shot sound from sound track pro. Also we imputed the Max chocolate jingle we had onto to here, as it was easier to then put it into Final Cut.
Here is a image of me using Final Cut Pro.
Final cut pro was the most important piece of software that we used. It was simple to use after getting the hang of the different function. It was easy to log and capture all the footage and then it was simple to mark the clips at the sections we wanted to used. This was so that they fit in the timeline to create the final product.

With our main product of Advert 1, we had difficultly at first to find out how to have a high speed effect of when out actor was spinning. Also in Advert 2 we had a slow motion effect that took us a while to understand how to slow the speed down. But after reading the Final cut Manual it was easy to put together.

However we did encounter one problem, we wanted to insert a certain transition into the video. But the programme did not have the transition effect we wanted, so we had to solve the problem by altering the script and then re shooting.

Live type was a programme which was hard to use at first, because you had to understand how to use the effects and the different elements in order to render the footage to then import it onto final cut. We used final cut in all out advert expect for our radio advert. This was used to write our tag line ‘Take it to the max’

Production of Radio advert

We used the program Sonic Foundry; this was because we found it easier to use then sound track pro.

Track 1 is the vocals (script)

Track 2 is the chomp sfx taken from the Hanna Barberra cartoon sfx collection

Track 3 is the rock track taken from the Ultimate Warriors Theme Song (WWE)

The vocals had to have gain adjusted (overall volume) as when recording the vocals.

With the pencil key you can crop the tracks in order to fit where you want them in the track.

All we did was put all three tracks together at the times we wanted them to over lap in order to get our final Radio Advert.

Evaluation
In my evaluation, I wanted to think of ways to evaluate my work in a way which may not bore people if they were to read it.

My first way in which I used different media technologies was through recording audio responses to the products we made.

I recorded several responses with a Zoom MP3 Recorder. Then I imported to responses onto Audacity, which is a programme that enables you to edit audio. To make is more interested I used the Max Chocolate jungle which is used in every advert we have produced. Then I exported the sound as anMp3 file and uploaded it onto audioboo.fm. Then copied the URl onto my blog.

Again I used my blog to upload my final products and my evaluation of each product. This was very simple as now I have understood fully how to do different things on my blog. For example upload files straight from the source. (camera to blog)

I also used Windows Movie Maker, to create my video responses. I thought that this was a good idea, because it was interesting to watch. Also by having my own response at the end made it feel more interactive.

Evaluation : In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products.

We have tried to developing this even though our brand name is not popular, in our Advert 1 the sale person is wearing a blue shirt, which is traced back to our logo, and the actor is wearing a brown jumper which can be traced back to the back ground of the logo. Therefore, we have used these conventions for use to engage ourselves with our target audience.

At the TV adverts, we have the logo with our slogan at the bottom; this is what loads of adverts do like Cadbury. This is a good convention because you need a symbol that memorable in people’s head, therefore they will go and buy the chocolate. But the difference between our adverts and Cadburys is that they have the image of the chocolate bar at the end, but we have reference to the chocolate bar during the advert, because every time someone gains energy they eat the chocolate before hand. So in this sense we are changeling the way in which consumers look at adverts, and associate our advert with our logo and not our actual bar like Cadburys.
At the end of every sponsorship sequence, we have our brand name and our logo shown and herd. Therefore this reinforces our brand name, and then gives us greater brand power.

When coronation street was sponsored by Cadbury’s they used a catchy jingle being used. Like our jingle, but Cadbury’s has theirs before they say’ sponsors coronation street’ and we have challenged this idea, and not inputted a jingle, because in the back ground you can hear the music being played by the piano player. Therefore our target audience of 16-25 year old can associate this with the chocolate.

In the Cadburys dancing eyebrow’s advert, she is wearing a purple dress, therefore this enhances their brand logo. This also makes their audience mind think because they will look at this advert many times, and because there is no reference to the chocolate during the advert, they will instantly know that it is connected to Dairy milk.

Another convention that we have used is using our brand name over and over and over again. This is at the end of every sponsorship sequence, adverts and at the end of the radio advert.

The brand/product must be visible in the commercial. Generally speaking the product is identified very early in the ad or at the very end of the ad as a surprise tactic. I think we should have made more reference to the max chocolate in the running advert.
Another convention that we have used is shot styles we have used a close up of the actor taking the chocolate bar out of this pocket and eating it, and then the girl eating the chocolate and in the sponsorship you can tell the boy has eaten the chocolate before he plays and finally in the radio advert, you can hear the spokesman eat the chocolate

This is a good way we have challenged other chocolate adverts, like Cadburys, because you do not see them eating the chocolate however, we decided to have a different approach.

Many commercials use a voice-over. The performer who reads the copy is not seen in a voice-over commercial. Rather, the performer's voice is heard as a major component of the sound track. We have done this is our running advert, when she has the flash backs, I think this was really effected and was better then someone actually speaking it. ( non diegectic)

Finally the font we have used in our adverts, in the same through out. This is again to engage our audience, because when you make this repetitive the audience remembers it and when they see something they will connect it to the chocolate bar.

Underneath you will be able to see all of our products and how we have challenged other products.

Evaluation : Feed Back from Radio Advert

The first way we decided to get our audience feed back for the radio advert, was buy filming each response. We took feedback from our target audience as these are the people that will buy the chocolate.

In order to make this video, I had to import each video clip into Windows Movie Maker.
Then I had to put each clip into a timeline, then edit the whole video at the end with a sound track as the written slides are shown.
I thought this was a good way in which we gathered some audience feedback.

As our Target audience is Young people aged 16-25, using cross media advertising, I uploaded the radio advert on to facebook.

In order to get feedback I had to tag a random sample of people on my fackebook.

Then  I had to ask everyone to comment on what they think and how it can be improved.

We had a few problems without radio advert first. Because when we first recorded it, the person we had to record the script because it was not energetic towards the end of the advert.

So we had to re-record so that there is a sense of energy when the chocolate bar is being eaten.

I felt that our advert was good because it conveyed what we wanted. That chocolate gives you energy, but still it targeted our audience of teenagers because it had the funny aspect to it with the cartoon chewing sounds.
